How many times have you visited Tagaytay City and booked a hotel? Us? Zero. We stay in home rentals whenever we go to the Garden City of the Philippines.
Why choose home rentals instead of hotels?
Just to be clear, I have nothing against hotels. In fact, most of our staycations, birthday and anniversary celebrations are spent in hotels. It’s just that we go to Tagaytay in big groups. Our cousins tagged along the first couple of times we went there. Meanwhile, my cousin, sister and my daughter’s friend were with us during our recent Tagaytay weekday getaway. Therefore, booking a hotel would have been more expensive for us and it wouldn’t have been very convenient for us if we were divided into two groups. LOL
Another point that I’d like to make is that we love cooking. Renting a house with a functional kitchen allows us to cook whatever dishes we want to eat instead of wasting money on fast food. Simply put, cooking makes our staycation even more homey. For some, it might be a little bit exhausting but cooking for me is therapy so I don’t really fret about it. 😜
More About Tagaytay Summer House
So let’s talk about Tagaytay Summer House. The property is located in Tagaytay Country Homes 1, a safe subdivision in the city. It’s near the mall, the hospital, the pharmacy and is only even a few minutes away from the popular restaurants along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. In other words, it is strategically located near food, booze and shopping! LOL
I found their listing on Agoda and the first thing that caught my eye were the photos. The house looked fairly new and clean which really impressed me. I even loved the interior. The second thing that piqued my interest was the price. The cost to book it for a night is only Php 4,000 for 5 persons. Now if your group is bigger than 5, you’ll have to pay around Php 300 per head for additional guests. Just talk to the owner first so you can verify if they have a maximum number of guests.
Anyway, Tagaytay Summer House has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a functional kitchen, and a small living room. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed while the other room has a bunk bed and a pull-out. The size was perfect for our group of 8! 👌
The kitchen was fully equipped with stove, utensils, plates, coffee cups, pots, and pans. And oh, if you want to barbecue, they also have a charcoal grill! Everything was there already so we didn’t have to bring anything except sandwiches, chips and of course, coffee. We also brought our own water because my kids’ stomach are kind of sensitive and for that reason, they do not drink tap water. It is also noteworthy that the rooms were clean and the linens were fresh. The bathroom was spotless, too. I’ve read some comments online from previous guests that the tub was leaking. Fortunately, the bathroom was already renovated during our stay.
So I guess that’s it for me today. Take a look at some of photos we’ve taken.
