Planning for a trip to Puerto Galera? If you haven’t booked a hotel yet, you might want to check out Sunny Beach Resort. We stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights throughout the duration of our Puerto Galera adventure and had a wonderful experience!
Sunny Beach Resort is a 3-star hotel nestled in Talipanan Beach, just 6 minutes away from White Beach or so Google Maps say. LOL It is very accessible so you won’t have to worry about getting there. You won’t need to take a multicab from White Beach because there are boats from the Batangas City Port that can drop you off exactly in Talipanan Beach.
When you get there, you will notice that the ambiance is different. First of all, there are fewer people in this part of the island. Most tourists stay in White Beach because of the nightlife, its long stretch of restaurants, pasalubong stores, entertainment and availability of activities. So if your goal is to party non-stop, White Beach is the place for you. On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a serene and relaxing vacation with your significant other or your family, Talipanan Beach is the perfect destination.
Anyway, Sunny Beach Resort offers a variety of room types for solo travellers, couples, barkadas and families. We booked a family room that had two double beds and two bunk beds. It was perfect for us! The room was quite spacious. The air conditioning system was working properly. The beddings were fresh and they smelled good. Most importantly, the bathroom was new and clean.
Since you won’t be packing a lot of food on your trip, you’ll be happy to know that their restaurant serves delicious food. Just bring cash because they don’t take credit card payments. Also, most hotel accommodations come with free breakfast. You can choose from any of the three options: pancake, Continental or Filipino. I wasn’t able to take a photo of their menu but we did try their Lumpiang Shanghai, Fried Pork Chops, Tinolang Manok, Crispy Pata, pizza and Chicken Wings.
Now I believe I mentioned that this part of Puerto Galera isn’t famous for nightlife. However, I didn’t say that enjoying a cocktail or ice-cold beer is impossible. LOL Take advantage of Sunny Beach Resort’s happy hour which starts at 4:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM. Enjoy a free plus one for every cocktail that you’ll buy.
Curious about internet access? When we stayed there, WiFi was only available in public areas. But if you’re a Smart subscriber like me, you’ll surely enjoy fast internet browsing because the LTE signal there was quite strong and stable.
The resort is a beachfront property so that’s great news for those of you who love a good tan. If you’re not a fan of basking under the glorious heat of the sun, you can just take a dip in their indoor pool which was impressively clean and refreshing.
Want to tour the island? Looking for activities? Talk to the resort’s receptionist on duty to learn more about their tour packages. During our visit, we paid Php 800 per head for a package that included a trip to the Sandbar, Giant Clam, Underwater Cave and fish feeding. They also have jet skis and kayaks you can rent out.
Finally, I must say that the staff in Sunny Beach Resort was awesome! Miss Marie, the receptionist, was cheerful and accommodating. Ate Cecil from the restaurant was friendly and served food with a smile. My favorite is Ate Lory who provided exemplary service and even made hanging out in the bar entertaining. She was kind, funny and helpful, too. Overall, it was a memorable, satisfying experience for me and my family. So thank you, Sunny Beach Resort!
