Hi there! I’m Eileen, a 30-something mom who’s trying so hard to not get an F on Parenting 101. I got married at the age of 21, had my first baby at 22 and my second one at 23. So yeah, life has never been that easy for me for the past decade and a half. I now have three kids (2 girls and one boy) who I love very dearly. And even though I sometimes feel like crap for not being as hands-on to my kids like the other moms out there, I believe that I’ve been doing quite well in most cases. Pat my back, please. :p
I’m a WAHM (work-at-home mom) and I’ll bet my ass that you’ll say, “Oh, good for you. How does that work? It must be so easy to work from home. You won’t have to spend 30 minutes doing your make-up in the morning so that you’ll look nice in the office (after all, #KilayIsLife right?). You won’t have to sit on your ass for 2 straight hours because of heavy traffic. You work on your own time so you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. You won’t have to blah, blah, blah.”
Let me tell you this. Being a WAHM is no joke. Since 2010, I’ve been working as a digital marketer, writing SEO articles, setting up and managing websites, doing social media and content marketing, running paid advertising and lead generation campaigns for my clients. I know what you’re thinking now. Yes, I’m borderline nerdy. But here’s the thing. Imagine doing all these at home when:
- you don’t have a nanny to help you with the kids or the chores;
- you have three kids who need you every minute, every hour;
- you have deadlines to meet but then your brain won’t cooperate because you only slept for 3 hours.
The truth is, there is no easy job in this world.
I believe that all jobs require time, energy, focus and discipline. Yes, I don’t have to wear make-up everyday. In fact, I start working the moment I open eyes — while I’m in my pajamas. I don’t have to put up with the heavy traffic in Manila but hey, I only see the four corners of my house every darn day. Is that even healthy? LOL I don’t have colleagues who I can have lunch with. I also do not work on flexible hours. Instead, I have kids in the house and a long list of household chores that make my everyday life as an employee a lot more challenging.
But don’t take it the wrong way. I have no intention of crushing your dreams of being a work-from-home freelancer. If you are talented, skilled, eager to learn and 110% driven, just shoot me a message and I’ll try my best to answer all of your questions and help you out.
Anyhoo, when I’m not busy draining my brain on CTRs, CPCs, CPAs, ROIs and KPIs, I grab every opportunity to bond with my kids or go out with my husband for a few drinks. We spend most of our weekends watching Netflix or battling zombies and monsters on Playstation (yes, I still play video games). And when I’m stressed out about anything at all, you got it! I cook my favorite dishes. I. LOVE. FOOD. And that’s that.
So, welcome to the blogsite of The Barely Sleeping Mom. I’m looking forward to connecting with you.
Talk soon!
XOXO,
Eileen
